Match Report: NCC (191/all out in 36 Overs, Naveed 33, Abdul 33) beat SSC (117/10 in 31 Overs, Anthony 18, Swapnil 3/25, and Madassar 2/12) by 74 Runs

SSC was our opponent in 7th game of the league. Unfortunately we had to give up our home right as our ground was not available on this weekend. We had handed the home advantage to them and their opponents are very strong.

Surprisingly we won the toss (yes, finally!!!!) and elected to bat first on the coconut matting pitch. Once again NCC started with their trusted opening partnership of Naveed and Ali. Ali was in his usual aggressive mood and was out when he was deceived by slow delivery from Naveed (SSC). Arshad came into bat but he was also done by a loopy full toss which instead of dispatching for six got hit on pads and was out LBW. Ashar joined in but his stay was also very limited and soon we were 45/3 and looking down the barrel.

Abdul joined Naveed and both started batting sensibly. However Abdul lost his composure and was out after scoring 30 runs. At the 20 overs mark we were 105/4 with Swapnil and Naveed still on crease, huge target was looking very possible.

But just after break Naveed got run out trying to squeeze in a second. Afterwards we kept on loosing wickets regularly but most of the lower order batting contributing to score and finlly we were out for 191 runs. The target was not very hard but it was fighting total considering SSC’s batting depth.

SSC started their innings with Inder and Anthony; they got off to a flier with 17 runs conceded in the first over. However in the very next over Swapnil gave us double break through. He got rid of dangerous Milan who was brilliantly caught by Abdul at deep square leg. Then Saleem came who has changed his club from TCC this year; however he was also quick to depart. Our fielding was putting lot of pressure and cutting out any singles. Abdul (SSC) was run out when he tried to steal a single.

Winsley and Dushanta tried to stabilize the innings but NCC was always the favorite. Soon Dushanta was adjudged LBW and we were very near to victory. Their lower order tried to hold out but also perished. In the end we won the game by convincing margin of 74 runs.

Now we have 3 games remaining in the league, we need to concentrate on every department as our performance was not up to mark. Let us hope we increase our level and win the remaining matches.
